Two hours into the loop and you have hitched your shorts up for the fifteenth time. The phone is bouncing in a pocket that was never meant to hold one, the waistband has rolled, and the afternoon drizzle has turned the fabric dark and heavy against your legs.
Most women's shorts are made for the café, not the track. Shallow pockets, a waistband that relies on your hips, and fabric that hangs onto sweat and rain.
These are made for the walk.
A webbing belt with a flat buckle is built into the waistband. Set it at the trailhead and it holds there, while the elastic across the back gives when you bend, climb a stile or sit down on a rock for lunch.
The fabric has four-way stretch, so it moves with every high step over a root and never pulls across the thighs. It is quick-dry and moisture-wicking, so sweat leaves the fabric instead of sitting in it, and a water-resistant coating sheds a passing shower or a splash at the creek crossing.
There are four pockets. Two deep side pockets take your hands and your phone, and two flapped cargo pockets on the thighs hold snacks, keys and sunscreen where you can reach them without taking the pack off.
The front is plain and clean, so they work just as well at the pub after the walk.
Garment measurements in cm, taken on the shorts. They can vary by 1 to 2 cm. Compare them with a pair of shorts that fits you well. The elastic back and the belt give some extra room at the waist.
| Size | Waist (cm) | Hips (cm) | Length (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | 66 | 100 | 52 |
| M | 72 | 106 | 53 |
| L | 78 | 112 | 54 |
| XL | 84 | 118 | 55 |
Buckle it. Pocket it. Walk.
