Seven in the morning on the jetty it is cool enough for long sleeves. By ten the sun is on the water, the wind has dropped and you are sweating through a cotton shirt that will stay damp until you are back at the car. The T-shirt you wore last time left your forearms to the sun all afternoon.
Most outdoor days here go the same way: a cool start, a hot finish and one shirt that has to handle both.
This one is built to.
The fabric is a lightweight quick-dry weave with added stretch. Sweat, spray or a passing shower dries off it fast instead of soaking in, and it breathes, so the shirt does not cling to your back on the climb up from the beach. The stretch lets it move with you when you cast, reach for a handhold on a rock scramble or lift a pack into the boot.
The sleeves are full length for the cool start and for keeping the sun off your arms. When the day warms up, roll them above the elbow and fasten the button tab — they stay rolled instead of creeping back down your forearm every time you reach for something.
Two flap chest pockets sit high, where you can still get to them with a pack strap or a life jacket on. One has an extra zip opening for the things you do not want to lose over the side. The front buttons all the way down, so you can wear it closed, or open over a singlet as a light layer.
Women's sizes S to 2XL. The cut is relaxed through the body and shoulders, with a curved hem that sits over the hips, so there is room to wear it over a singlet or a fitted tee.
Cool morning. Hot afternoon. One shirt.
