You know the routine with lace-up boots. Every morning you undo them, wrestle your foot in, pull the laces tight from the bottom up and tie them off. Every evening you do it in reverse. Get it slightly wrong and you spend the first hour with a loose heel or a hot spot on the instep.
Then there is the weight. A heavy boot feels fine for the first kilometre and like a pair of bricks by the end of a day on the property or a long session on the riverbank.
This boot keeps your laces set and lets you zip in and out instead.
A full-length zip runs up the inner side of the boot. Set the laces once to the tension you like, then use the zip to get in and out. The fit stays the same every time, and you skip the daily re-lace at the back door or the tailgate of the ute.
The upper is suede and nylon with a padded collar. The high cut wraps around the ankle and the padding keeps the top edge from rubbing on a long day. Inside is a breathable lining with a cushioned insole for walking or standing for hours.
Underneath is a lugged rubber outsole made for dirt, gravel and rock. It grips on uneven ground and on wet surfaces so you are not picking your way across every slope. At roughly 950 g for the pair, it is light for a high-cut boot.
Now the honest part. This is a water-resistant boot, not a wading boot. It handles wet grass, puddles and drizzle; standing in a creek is a different job. Wet weather is fine, deep water is not what it was built for.
Laces set. Zip in. Out the door.
