Walk into a bike shop looking for a cycling jersey and most of the rack looks like a race team's billboard: sponsor logos down the sides, a slogan across the back and colours you'd never pick. Fine if you're racing. Less fine for a seven o'clock loop of the river path with your mates, or the ride into work.
So you ride in a plain tee instead, and the phone ends up in your shorts pocket, the shirt rides up your back and the sweat stays put.
This is the plain jersey: one solid colour from collar to hem, doing everything a jersey should.
A full-length front zip runs from hem to collar. Open it on the climb, close it for the descent, and manage the heat without stopping to strip off a layer.
Three open-top pockets sit across the lower back with an elasticated band across the panel, so a phone, keys, a gel and a spare tube ride level against you instead of swinging.
The face is a textured polyester knit designed to move sweat off the skin and dry quickly. Raglan seams run from the collar to the underarm, which keeps any seam off the top of your shoulder when you reach for the bars.
A silicone gripper band at the hem and a dropped tail hold the back of the jersey in place when you get low on the bars, and a reflective tab at the centre of the rear hem catches headlights from behind when the light goes.
Sizes run from S to 2XL. S and M run true to size. From L upward the fit gets increasingly snug, most noticeably at 2XL, so if you take L or larger, or you like a looser fit, go up one size.
| Size | To-fit chest |
|---|---|
| S | 94 cm (37 in) |
| M | 98 cm (38.5 in) |
| L | 103 cm (40.5 in) |
| XL | 110 cm (43.5 in) |
| 2XL | 114 cm (45 in) |
One colour. Three pockets. Just ride.
