Lunch stop on a bushwalk and the only seat is a granite boulder that has been baking in the sun since ten o'clock. Or it is dawn on the riverbank, the grass is soaked with dew, and you are about to spend two hours sitting on it waiting for a bite.
Wet shorts, a numb backside and a sharp rock or stick right where you sit. A folding chair fixes it, but nobody carries a folding chair up a track.
This cushion goes in the pack and comes out wherever you stop.
The cushion is built from a grid of air chambers, pinched together in a tufted, quilted pattern. Each chamber takes some of your weight, so instead of sinking into one big air bag you sit on a supportive surface that spreads the load across your hips and tailbone and stops you bottoming out on the rock underneath.
A quick-release valve sits in one corner. Open it and blow it up by mouth or with a pump to the firmness you like, then close it off. When you are done, open the valve, roll the air out and fold it down small enough to slide into the side of a daypack or the lid of a backpack.
The outer fabric is water-resistant, and the air layer lifts you up off cold, damp ground, so the dew on the grass or the wet sand stays under the cushion and off your shorts.
Use it on rocks and logs on a bushwalk, on the bank or the tinnie seat while fishing, on hard stadium seats at the footy, or on the ground at an outdoor concert. Choose black, olive or green.
Sit anywhere. Stay comfortable.
