Every camping trip starts the same way. The billy, the frying pan, the gas stove, the plates and the coffee gear go into a plastic tub, the tub goes in the boot, and three hours of corrugations later it all comes out with a dented stove, a cracked plate and a lid that will not go back on.
At camp it is no better. Everything you need is at the bottom of the tub, the tub lid is the only flat surface, and anything left out overnight is covered in dew and ants by morning.
This bag gives the whole camp kitchen a padded home.
The outer shell is 600D Oxford fabric over stiff board panels, so the bag holds its box shape whether it is full or half empty. Inside, a thick padded lining in 210D Oxford cushions the contents, so a gas stove, a kettle or a set of enamel mugs can ride in the back of the ute without knocking each other to bits.
The main compartment is split by movable padded dividers. Set them up to give the stove its own bay, stack the pots in another and slide the plates down the side, then change the layout for the next trip. The lid opens wide on two side straps and has a zip mesh pocket and webbing loops inside for cutlery, lighters, matches and sachets.
On the outside are mesh pockets on the ends for bottles and odds and ends, and rows of webbing loops for clipping on extras. Carry it by the two handles stitched down the front or clip on the padded shoulder strap and sling it over one shoulder when your other hand is full.
It holds 30 litres and measures 40 x 30 x 25 cm, and the bag itself weighs 1.25 kg. Empty, it folds down flat to store in the shed. Between trips it doubles as a boot organiser for the weekly shop or the fishing gear.
Pack the kitchen once. Unpack it anywhere.
