Every rest stop on a bushwalk ends the same way. You look around for somewhere to sit and find a wet log, a bull ant nest or a rock that has been cooking in the sun since ten. At the campsite it is the esky lid or the dirt. The proper camp chair stayed in the back of the ute, because nobody wants to carry three kilos of chair up a fire trail.
The ground is not a seat. A full camp chair is not something you hike with.
This stool fills the gap.
The base is an X-frame of 7075 aluminium alloy tubing, a high-strength grade that lets the frame stay thin and light. Unfold the legs and the padded seat pulls flat and firm across the top. There is nothing to screw together and no loose parts to lose in the leaf litter.
The seat is a zipped, padded cushion, and it is also the storage case. To pack up, you lay the stool flat, stretch the frame outwards, rotate the legs and slide the frame into the seat's compartment. Zip it shut and the whole stool becomes a slim pouch with a carry loop, small enough to slide into a pack side pocket or the cargo pocket of your trousers.
It weighs 320 g, less than a full water bottle, and it is rated to hold up to 180 kg. That makes it easy to justify on a day walk and easy to forget is in the pack until you want it.
Use it on the river bank while you wait for a bite, at the fire while dinner cooks, on the sideline at the kids' footy or in the queue at a summer festival.
A real seat that weighs less than your lunch.
