mens-mtb-shorts-baggy-mountain-bike-shorts-with-zipped-thigh-cargo-pockets
Men's MTB Shorts – Baggy Mountain Bike Shorts with Zipped Thigh Cargo Pockets

Phone In. Zip Shut. Ride On.

You know the moment at the top of a descent. You pat your thigh to check the phone is still there, then spend the first rocky section wondering whether it will be by the bottom. Open pockets on a mountain bike are a gamble, and wearing a hydration pack just to carry your keys is overkill.

Then there's the other problem. Lycra is fine on the bike and awkward everywhere else — roll into a café after the ride and you're the one standing at the counter in skin-tight kit.

These are baggy MTB shorts: a loose, knee-length shell with zipped cargo pockets on both thighs and no liner sewn in.

Here's How It Works

The cargo pockets sit on the outside of each thigh and close with a zip. Phone and keys go in, the zip goes shut, and they stay put through rough descents and technical sections instead of bouncing around in an open pocket. No flapping, no pack needed.

The shell is a woven stretch fabric with spandex panels set into the hips and the lower legs — exactly where a pedal stroke loads. They give as your knee comes up, so the shorts don't pull across the knee at the top of every rotation.

The waistband closes with a metal clip at the front and is elasticated at the back. That split matters on a bike: you dial in the fit at the front, and when you fold forward over the bars the back gives a little instead of digging in.

Now the honest part. There is no chamois in these shorts. No sewn-in liner, no padding of any kind. That's deliberate — wear your own padded liner or bib underneath, or ride without one on shorter loops. If you want padding built in, these aren't it.

Off the bike, the loose knee-length cut reads as ordinary shorts. Ride the singletrack, push up a fire trail, stop for a coffee on the way home — no change of clothes required.

The Gear It Replaces

Lycra knicks on their own — fine on the bike, awkward at the café

A hydration pack for your keys — more kit than the ride needs

Everyday cargo shorts — open pockets and no stretch where the pedal stroke loads

Shorts with a built-in liner — you're stuck with someone else's pad

What's In It

Zipped cargo pocket on each thigh — phone and keys stay put on rough descents

Spandex stretch panels — at the hips and lower legs where pedalling loads

Metal clip front waist — dials in the fit

Elasticated back waist — no digging in when you fold forward

Two rear pockets and slanted hand pockets — for the small things you don't need zipped away

No sewn-in liner — wear your own padded liner or none at all

Loose knee-length cut — looks like ordinary shorts off the bike

Specifications

Product type: Men's baggy mountain bike shorts

Shell: Woven stretch fabric with spandex panels at the hips and lower legs

Liner: Not included — wear your own padded liner or bib

Waist: Metal clip front closure, elasticated back

Pockets: Two zipped thigh cargo pockets, two rear pockets, slanted hand pockets

Length: Knee length, loose cut

Colours: Black, Dark Blue, Royal Blue, Olive Green

Sizes: S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL

Intended use: Mountain biking, trail riding and everyday wear off the bike

Intended user: Men

A shell for the trail.
