The rod is in the holder, the bite is slow, and you are crouched on an upturned bucket with your knees around your ears.

A folding stool helps, until the second hour, when your lower back starts asking for something to lean on. A full camp chair has the back, but it is heavy, bulky and a pain to carry down a track with a rod and a tackle box.

This chair sits in the middle. It folds as flat and quick as a stool, but it has a proper backrest.

Here's How It Works

The frame is aluminium alloy in a crossed X pattern. Pull the seat open and the legs scissor out into a stable stance; push it closed and the whole chair folds flat in one movement. No pins, no clips, nothing to assemble.

The seat and backrest are tensioned fabric stretched across the frame. The backrest stands upright above the seat, so you sit straight with your back supported instead of hunched forward. A cut-out at the top of the backrest doubles as a carry handle when the chair is folded.

It is rated to 100 kg and, by the supplier's figure, weighs about 0.5 kg. Folded, it slips behind the seat of the ute, under the tackle box or alongside a rod bag.

Because it is compact and low, it suits the places a big camp chair does not: a narrow jetty, a rocky bank, the back of a tinnie on shore or a crowded sideline.

The Gear It Replaces

An upturned bucket — low, hard and no back

A backless folding stool — fine for ten minutes, not for a session

A full-size camp chair — too heavy to walk down to the water

Sitting on the esky — and getting up every time someone wants a drink

What's In It

Aluminium alloy X-frame — folds flat in one move

Upright backrest — supports your lower back through a long sit

Tensioned fabric seat — firm and quick to dry

Handle cut-out in the backrest — carry it one-handed when folded

100 kg rating — for adults

Compact folded size — fits behind a ute seat or beside a rod bag

Specifications

Product type: Compact folding chair with backrest

Frame: Aluminium alloy

Maximum load: 100 kg

Weight: About 0.5 kg (supplier figure)

Dimensions: 23 x 23 x 49 cm (supplier figure)

Colour: Black

Intended use: Fishing, camping, hiking, festivals and sports sidelines

Intended user: Adults

A stool that remembered your back.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0951/0551/5840/files/03_9f9f9395-ace1-4bda-b701-4af653e9d233.jpg?v=1793406437
